Woman To Get Lifetime Pay And Kd 116,000 Compensation

The Court of Appeals has ruled to pay a Kuwaiti woman compensation of KD 116,000 and a lifetime salary of KD 500 as well as KD 200 for nursing services, after her family sued one of the major insurance companies via lawyer Ali Matar Al-Wawan.

According to the case file, the woman (plaintiff) was involved in a road accident after another car crashed into her car from behind. As per investigations, the driver of the other car was not paying attention while driving.

The plaintiff sustained serious head injury, inability to speak, partial paralysis of her body’s right side, chronic involuntary spasm on her left leg, loss of smell, cognition disability, and inability to give birth.

The Court of First Instance issued a final verdict against the motorist who caused the accident, sentencing him to one-year imprisonment with hard labor.

Lawyer Ali Al-Wawan based his argument on the fact that his client was still young, and the accident led to loss of a future for her due to the injuries she sustained which would impede her progress in almost every aspect of life. He said, since the car that hit her car was insured, it is the obligation of the insurance company to compensate his client.
