I just want to inquire about the policy of maternity leave…If a new employee (who joined the company 6 months ago only) gets pregnant, is she entitled to 70 days maternity leave?
Answer: The Kuwait Labor Law does not lay down any period, after joining a company, for a woman to be eligible for maternity leave.
The law only says that a woman is entitled to the 70 days maternity leave whenever she gets pregnant. The only condition is that the birth of the child should be within these 70 days.
So, it doesn’t matter if a woman joined a company a month ago, 5 months ago or 7 months ago, she is entitled to the 70-day maternity leave in each case.
