Within A Week, Gtd Impounds 84 Vehicles For 27,000 Violations
According to Major General Jamal Al Sayegh, Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations, and under the supervision of Brigadier Yousef Al-Khadda, the Traffic and Operations Sector implemented campaigns to control traffic, eliminate recklessness, and keep a tab on grave violations.
During the past week, Major Abdullah Buhassan, the Public Relations and Media officer of the General Traffic Department, released a press statement saying that 27,508 traffic violations were issued during the security and traffic campaigns, 31 motorcycles were sent to detention garages, and 35 violators were referred to the General Traffic Department for serious violations, reports a local Arabic newspaper.
In addition to the 57 juveniles seized, 20 abandoned vehicles were impounded by security and judicial authorities, and ten people were arrested as part of the campaign.
The official statistics for the traffic and operations sector indicate that traffic violations were recorded mainly by the traffic operations department with 7,679 recorded violations, then by the Capital Traffic Department with 5,151, and then by the Hawalli Traffic Department with 4,369 violations.
General Administration of Emergency Police staff have recorded 665 traffic violations, conducted 355 security and traffic operations, and sent 9 vehicles into the detention garage during the last week. Additionally, 12 persons have been arrested for security and criminal reasons as well as 24 individuals for driving without identification documents and 6 persons for drunk driving.
In addition to the vehicle seizures, eight vehicles in violation of law were seized by emergency police patrols, and they were referred to the proper authorities, as well as four cases of possession or use of drugs that were referred to the General Administration for Drug Control.
