Why No Ad Published To Recruit Nurses; Tenders ‘mishandled’
MP Muhannad Al-Sayer intends to submit a report on the violations of the concerned committee at the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) to Minister of Justice and State Minister for Nazaha (Integrity) Enhancement Jamal Al-Jalawi. Al-Sayer disclosed his report includes documented information about tenders which were settled at higher prices. He said one of these tenders cost KD3.5 million, while the actual cost is only KD1.3 million; indicating several tenders were settled for a former minister whom he called ‘Joker’ and the relatives of the members of the concerned committee at CAPT. He urged Al-Jalawi to suspend the committee and refer its members for investigation; adding that he will follow up the issue, make his report accessible to citizens, and reveal the identity of the former minister.
On the other hand, MP Hesham Al- Saleh forwarded queries to Minister of Health Khalid Al-Saeed about reports quoting Egyptian Minister of Manpower and Immigration Muhammad Saafan as saying that Al-Saeed is planning to renew the employment contracts of Egyptian nurses. He asked why the Health Ministry did not publish an advertisement for the recruitment of nurses in which priority is given to nationals, followed by the children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis and then Bedouns.
If the circulated information is true, he wants to know the conditions for the renewal of the abovementioned employment contracts, reason for not coordinating with the Ministry of Higher Education to increase the number of Kuwaiti graduates from the College of Allied Health Sciences, and privileges granted to Kuwaiti youths in order to encourage them to specialize in nursing. MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji asked Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investments Abdulwahab Al-Rushaid about the amount of compensation specified by the concerned committee in the Security Council of the United Nations (UN) and other international organizations for the Kuwaiti government, companies and individuals for the losses they incurred due to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990. He wants to know the mode of payment, remaining amount of compensation, and reason for not disbursing such amount till date.
He also proposed the establishment of integrated health centers in Wafra and Abdally, considering there is no public clinic in or near these areas. He warned the current situation endangers the lives of those residing in both areas, especially during emergencies. MP Badr Al-Humaidi forwarded queries to Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Nazaha (Integrity) Enhancement Jamal Al-Jalwai about the number of expatriate consultants in the Civil Service Commission (CSC) five years ago compared to the current number, and reason behind the high number of expatriate consultants during the aforementioned period. He requested for details like the qualifications, years of experience, job description, number of those appointed under temporary contracts after retirement, reason behind such appointment, employment privileges, appointment criteria, names of the members of the concerned committee, dates of committee meetings, number of consultants interviewed in the last seven years, if any of them were delegated to other institutions, reason behind the delegation, their tasks, allowances, if any of them were delegated to more than one institution, and timetable for the Kuwaitization of technical jobs at CSC.
Meanwhile, MP Hamdan Al-Azmi is planning to grill His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid if the frontliners’ incentive will not be disbursed to the beneficiaries next week. Furthermore, MP Abdulkareem Al-Kandari decided to quarantine at home even if his PCR test result is negative as he is exhibiting some Corona symptoms. He will not attend the ordinary legislative sessions scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday to avoid infecting his colleagues.
