Wheat Export Ban, Kuwait To Ask India For Exemption

In an effort to persuade the New Delhi government to exclude Kuwait from the wheat export ban list, Kuwaiti Commerce and Industry Minister Fahd Al-Shariaan will meet soon with Indian ambassador to Kuwait Sibi George.

According to a local Arabic daily, the Kuwaiti Ambassador has requested to meet with al-Shariaan, in response to Kuwait's request in this regard, prompted by the historical trade relations between the two countries, and as part of India's study on whether it would be feasible to ease its ban on wheat exports, as has previously been the case with other countries.

According to sources, Al-Shariaan's move toward India is part of his broader efforts to ensure the continuation of grain flows to Kuwait in light of recent geopolitical developments that have led to deficits in most global markets.
