Us Serviceman In Kuwait Held For Assaulting Police

Kuwaiti authorities have arrested a drunken US serviceman who verbally assaulted police, a local newspaper reports.

In addition to using abusive language against Kuwaiti officials and an officer at the level of lieutenant colonel, the man threatened harm as an American, the newspaper said.

Kuwait City police described the suspect as smelling of alcohol when he was discovered with two girls - an Armenian and an Egyptian - in company.

A security source told the paper that when the serviceman was stopped by police for harassing people at a café, he used "immoral and insulting" words to address the officers.

The paper reports that the servicemen's behavior enraged witnesses, who assisted police in removing the muscular man to a patrol car.
