It was revealed to Al-Rai by the Ministry of Public Works that the neutral technical committee to study bids submitted by international road maintenance companies approved "the awarding of road maintenance in the Hawalli and Jahra governorates to an American company."
The sources expected that “the tender for the highways for the northern region will also be awarded to the same company, as it provided the lowest prices,” adding that the ministry will speak with the relevant authorities to get approvals for signing the first three contracts, prior to the maintenance operations beginning. A source told me that “road maintenance practices are essentially work order contracts, which means the Ministry has the right to assign the work to the American company for any work in other governorates, and maintenance work is not limited to Hawalli and Jahra.
