Unstable Weather Conditions To Continue

There are no water pools, road traffic are stable and police patrols distributed in all roads, Kuwaiti Civil Defense Committee spokesperson Colonel Jamal Al- Foudari said to KUNA Friday.

For his part, the Director of the Department of Central Operations in the Ministry of Interior Colonel Ahmed Al-Azmi noted that there are no reports of heavy rains during the past 24 hours, adding that the security men are in all roads continuing its work. Deputy Director-General for the control sector in the Directorate General of the fire brigade, Major General Jamal Al-Blehayis said that the administration dealt with minor incidents and did not face regular drowning, flooding or closure of roads, pointing out that the administration and all parties of the state are ready for any situation.

Meanwhile, The Directorate of Meteorology in the General Directorate of Civil Aviation expected the country to continue to be affected by instability in weather conditions based on updates and ongoing developments, satellite images and radar weather.

Quantity
The low and medium clouds are multiplying with sporadic showers of rain over most areas, varying in quantity between light and medium, with occasional cumulus clouds on some areas, meteorological observer Abdul-Aziz Al- Qarawi told KUNA on Friday. Winds are active at more than 60 km/h with low visibility on some areas, Al-Qarawi added.

Al-Qarawi pointed out that the weather starts to gradually improve starting from the evening on Sunday, calling on citizens and residents to follow the weather bulletin to get more updates about the weather condition.

Furthermore, Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Engr Hussam Al-Roumi said Friday that the government emergency committee had assigned several state bodies to handle the upcoming rainfall in Kuwait. He told KUNA that the committee affirmed that responsible government authorities were ready to handle any possible floods and heavy rains, adding that emergency teams were in position.

The minister added that teams from various government bodies, the Kuwait National Guard (KNG), the army, and others were prepared to address any emergencies, especially in flood-hit areas such as the Sabah Al-Ahmad city as well as the middle and southern to mid-southern regions of the country.

Moreover, all power stations and water networks are operating properly ahead of the expected rainfall in Kuwait, said an official at the Ministry of Electricity and Water Friday. Speaking to KUNA, Ministry Undersecretary Engr Fuad Al- Aoun said that emergency teams were ready to address any situation created by the expected heavy rainfall and floods.

Developments
The government is following on the latest developments concerning the weather conditions, affirmed the official. The State of Kuwait was recently affected by heavy rainfall that led to floods and damage to public and private properties.

The last heavy rainfall experienced in Kuwait was in 1997. In another development, some 29 public clinics will remain open overnight across Kuwait in order to respond to any possible emergencies due to the expected unstable weather conditions and rain, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

These include Ali Mohammed Thunayan Al-Ghanim Health Centre in Daiyah, Ahqaqi Health Centre in Sulaibikhat, Al-Sagar Specialized Health Centre in Adailiyah, West Salmiya Clinic, Salwa Clinic, Rumaithiyah Clinic, Salam Clinic in South Surra. South Sabah Al-Salem Clinic, Abdullah Al-Mubarak Clinic, South Firdous Clinic, Rabiyah Clinic, Andalus Clinic, West Farwaniyah Clinic, Saad Al-Abdallah (in Block 2), Jahra Clinic, Al-Qasr Clinic, Abdali Clinic. Rigga Clinic, Bnaider Clinic, East Sabahiya, Fahaheel Specialized Centre, Ali Sabah Al-Salem Clinic, Wafra, Sabah Al-Ahmad (1), Khairan, Fahad Al-Ahmad and Adan Specialized Centre.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) said it has readied response efforts across the country for possible emergencies in collaboration with the Civil Defence Committee, including logistical capabilities and water vacuum cleaner equipment.

In earlier discussions, KRCS chairman Hilal Al-Sayer said the two bodies reviewed different scenarios that may arise during the expected rainfall
