Travel Agencies Appeal To Stop Restriction On Incoming Passengers
The Kuwait Travel and tourism agencies association called on the Minister of State for Services Affairs and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs, Mubarak Al-Harees, to address the Council of Ministers to stop the decision of the domestic and institutional quarantine for 14 days for those coming to Kuwait, and to seek to raise the Airport's operational capacity to 60 percent instead of the 30 percent set as of From the beginning of next August.
According to Al-Rai Arabic newspaper report, the union expressed the concern by the owners of small and medium enterprises investing in the tourism and travel sector regarding these decisions.
The union said that they were largely affected starting from the closure of Kuwait International Airport last March and this will continue even after the opening of the Airport from next month as the operational capacity is limited to 30%. It will take a whole year to complete the 100% operational activity at the Airport as per the current plan.
The union pointed out that the Ministry of Health's intention to require a PCR certificate stating that the passenger is coronavirus free is in line with the public interest. However, imposing a domestic or institutional quarantine on those arriving in Kuwait for 14 days will lead many to rethink about their travel plan.
