Transport Authorities Issued To Prevent Empty Vehicles For Egyptian Markets

24 January 2017 Kuwait

The Egyptian land transport authorities have issued a decision to prevent heavy vehicles with Kuwaiti number plates from entering Cairo if they don’t carry goods for Egyptian markets, reports Al-Rai daily.

Surprisingly, it has been reported this decision is solely applicable only to Kuwait. Speaking to the daily, several truckers have complained and called on the concerned officials in charge of land transport to intervene on their behalf with their Egyptian counterparts and stop this unfair decision.

The truckers pointed out many of them have international permits and they mainly transport foodstuffs and vegetables from Egypt and other destinations to Kuwait and return to Egypt empty.

They added this practice has been ongoing for several years by virtue of agreements signed between Arab states. They said they are taken by surprise by this unfair decision that applies only to heavy vehicles carrying Kuwaiti number plates. They pointed the Egyptian Embassy in Kuwait was of no help to find a solution to their problem.
