Trader Forges Documents For More Hotel Space
The Court of Cassation has detained a businessman who is accused of forging official government documents in order to increase the area of his business.
The court also adjourned the case to mid-January 2019 for issuance of its verdict. Sources privy to the case said the defendant, who owns a famous hotel, had forged official documents so that he can add more floors to his building, more than what is allowed by the regulations governing the construction sector of the area where his estate is located. Previously, the Court of Appeals had sentenced the businessperson to two-year imprisonment with hard labor.
Meanwhile, the Court of Cassation sentenced a blogger to two-year imprisonment with hard labor. A State Security case was filed against him for using words deemed offensive to the entity of His Highness the Amir. The Public Prosecution had charged the blogger with intentionally posting words on his Twitter account which infringed the rights of His Highness the Amir. He was also charged with intentionally misusing his smartphone for this purpose.
