Tobacco Smuggling Bid Foiled

A container containing nearly 2 million sachets of tobacco was intercepted by customs officers at Shuaiba Port (Southern Port's Customs Department).

A cargo of household glassware was found to contain the contraband, according to customs sources. The customs sources said the container containing 2 million sachets of tobacco was found in a 40-foot container that came from Jebel Ali and allegedly contained "glass household utensils". In addition, chewing tobacco is prohibited by law and regarded as a throat cancer-causing drug.
