Three Egyptian Expats Killed, Two Hurt As Ceiling Of Mosque Falls
Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and State Minister for Municipal Affairs Fahad Al-Shola has issued instructions to launch investigations over the collapse of the ceiling of a mosque under construction in Nahda area, which resulted in the death of three Egyptian expatriates and injuries to two others.
The minister stressed the need to hold the concerned authority accountable for the alleged negligence, insisting that the investigating team should issue a detailed report on the incident so that necessary action can be taken thereafter.
He offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Meanwhile, the Public Relations Department of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) explained in a press release that the Control Room of KFSD dispatched firefighters to the location with securitymen and paramedics as soon as it received information about the collapse of the mosque ceiling.
After firefighters removed the cement pieces from the laborers and rescued them, they discovered that three had succumbed to serious injuries while two others were barely alive. Paramedics referred the injured victims to the nearest hospital for treatment. The corpses were referred to the Forensics Department.
Investigations have been launched to determine the reason for the cement chunks to fall from the ceiling of the mosque. High-ranking fire officials were present at the site.
