There's Good News For Kuwaiti Retirees

The National Assembly promised Tuesday that financial awards for retirees would be approved no later than next Thursday.

A government vision is to distribute 3,000 dinars to each retiree, according to parliamentary sources, but a government decision is expected within the next two days, according to a local Arabic newspaper.

This good news was reinforced by Finance Minister Abdul Wahhab Al-declaration, Rasheed's made yesterday at a meeting of the Parliamentary Finance Committee that he would send a message to pensioners, stressing that the good news would arrive under the wise political leadership's orders.

Representative Ahmed Al-Hamad, Chairman of the Finance Committee, revealed a government trend to refer a draught law regarding the payment of a reward to retirees and the insured to the Finance Committee, adding that the amount of the reward must be determined before the session on the 17th of this month."

According to parliamentary sources, the second part of the Finance Committee meeting devoted to retiree proposals saw a debate about the minimum salary of a retiree being set at 1000 dinars due to legal issues, and that the report will be ready for the committee's vote next Wednesday on the sidelines of the special session.
