03 April 2022 Kuwait

Due to the Ministry of Health's failure to meet financial obligations totaling more than 120 million dinars for the past more than 9 months, the Gulf Insurance Group may suspend payments to medical service providers in the country participating in health insurance services contracts for retired citizens (Afiya).

According to local Arabic daily sources, the "Gulf Insurance Group was surprised by the Ministry of Health's failure to respond to its requests for payment of contract obligations for medical service providers as recently as last February, and their urgent need for liquidity in light of the current circumstances."

According to the sources, due to the ministry's delay in collecting the dues, the GIG will be unable to meet its responsibilities to medical service providers and other project participants.

According to the sources, the Minister of Health hoped that the concerned authorities would instruct the concerned authorities to pay the money due to the group as soon as possible, so that it could fulfill all of its obligations to all contract parties, stressing that it would continue to fulfill its obligations to all those who hold GIG insurance policies outside of "Afya."
