09 May 2022 Kuwait

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of India revealed that an Indian fugitive who was sentenced to death in absentia by a Kuwaiti First Instance Court in 2012 for killing his Kuwaiti sponsor was recently apprehended after the court convicted him at the time.

The Indian inmate is named S.K. Rana, according to a CBI official. According to the statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted his Indian counterpart in late 2016 to request the extradition of the fugitive to Kuwait under the terms of the two countries' criminal exchange agreement.

India and Kuwait will work together to extradite the fleeing criminal so that his trial may be completed in Kuwait. The accused was condemned to death in absentia by the Kuwaiti Criminal Court of First Instance on February 29, 2012.
