‘taraweeh’ , ‘qiyaam’ Prayers In Mosques During Ramadan For Men Only

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced that Taraweeh prayers and the ‘night prayers’ (Qiyaam) in the mosques during the coming Ramadan will be for men only, reports Al-Rai daily. The Undersecretary of the Ministry, Farid Emadi said, “The decision to allow or prohibit collection of donations in mosques during Ramadan this year is in the hands of the Ministry of Social Affairs. No decision has been taken by it yet”.

He went on to say, “The ministry is fully prepared for the month of Ramadan by equipping mosques and holding many meetings with the relevant departments to provide and facilitate the mosques with all the needs to ensure the fulfillment of health requirements during the obligatory prayers or Taraweeh and the Qiyaam. Unfortunately, due to the application of health requirements, prayer halls will not be available for women during Ramadan, as the women’s prayer halls in mosques will be reserved for men only this year. Women and children will have to pray at their homes, due to the tight absorptive capacity of mosques to fulfill the health requirements in terms of space”. Emadi stressed that the Grand Mosque will be open this year for Taraweeh prayers and Qiyaam only for men, adding that many distinguished readers will lead locally, and there will be no external hosting of sheikhs, reciters and preachers due to the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic and the procedures decided by the Cabinet in this regard.

Meanwhile, according to a circular issued by the oil sector says the working hours during Ramadan are 6 starting from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, reports Al-Anba daily. The circular, a copy of which has been obtained by the daily, has been issued by the CEO of the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, Walid Al-Badr. The circular says there is no change in the number of working hours for people working shifts.

However, those working beyond six hours will be compensated in line with the company’s applicable regulations. The daily added, according to the circular some employees may be required to work for more than the schedule of special working hours during Ramadan, and in this case they will be paid an additional work allowance.
