Taking Pandemic Control To A New Level

16 February 2022 Coronavirus

Kuwait's Cabinet has revoked most of the restrictions related to the cholera pandemic, signaling the start of a new era for the country. After Kuwait successfully weathered a recent wave of infections, and as the number of vaccinated people rises, the government is feeling more optimistic about Kuwait's health.

Heikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Premier, headed the Cabinet at the weekly meeting on Monday and agreed to cancel the distancing rules in mosques, public transportation, cinemas, theaters, and banquet halls.

Following the Cabinet meeting, Foreign Minister and Minister of Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah read a statement ending the ban on in-person events such as conferences, training courses, weddings, funerals, etc.

Without vaccination, unvaccinated people were allowed entry into shopping centers and malls abroad. In addition, the Cabinet removed the requirement for students under 16 who wish to attend classes personally to undergo weekly PCR tests. Quarantine requirements were also reduced for students who had a positive PCR test or displayed symptoms of the virus. For arrivals who received the three Kuwaiti-authorized vaccine shots, the Cabinet abolished pre-departure, post-arrival PCR testing and quarantine requirements at home.ements at home. As a result, double-jabbed arrivals will only be exempt from the pre-departure test since they still need to quarantine for seven days after they enter the country, but if they are negative in the pre-departure test, it does not affect their quarantine.

Duration
The UN-immunized arrivals, however, must submit the results of a negative PCR test that was conducted within 72 hours before departure and remain in quarantine at home for seven days and perform a PCR test the following day to confirm that they are not infected. The tests and quarantine measures are not applied to unvaccinated young arrivals under 16 years old.

If you experience symptoms after entering the country, the Cabinet advised that you get a rapid antigen test. It stressed that if the results were positive, a PCR test should be conducted. Furthermore, it divided people vaccinated into two groups: those who were fully vaccinated and those who had not been vaccinated. Kuwait has authorized three vaccine shots of one kind; the second shot must have been taken less than nine months ago; and those who have recovered from an infection within the past three months are considered fully vaccinated. A person with double vaccinations over nine months ago is not fully vaccinated. In Kuwait, unvaccinated people are those who have not taken two shots of the vaccine. According to the cabinet, these restrictions will be loosened starting on Sunday, 20 February. On March 13, civil servants will return to their offices with full capacity.

To maintain food price stability on local markets, the Cabinet assigned the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to coordinate with relevant bodies. Foreign Minister and Minister of Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah was examined by the Cabinet regarding developments related to the no-confidence motion filed by a number of lawmakers against him. The government renewed its support for the foreign minister two days before the vote.
