Suspicions Of ‘oil’ Promotions Persist

07 September 2020 Economics

Despite the many objections to the implementation of the recommendations of the Parliamentary Investigation Committee into the violations of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiary companies concerning promotions, appointments and administrative and financial violations, some of which ended with the referral of several oil sector leaders to the Public Prosecution, the sector is still tweeting outside the squadron and continuing on the same way, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily quoting informed sources explained that report of the Parliamentary Investigation Committee indicated a defect in promotions, especially in appointing deputies to the position of managing directors or heads of affiliated oil companies in contravention of the previously approved and applicable regulations.

The committee discovered that the corporation had created a department called “Leadership Experience Center” to oversee the work of trade-offs, noting “there are question marks about its results, as evidence in the failure of a delegated board member of the corporation to provide the Parliamentary Committee, in more than one meeting, the results of 12 differentials for leadership positions and the mechanism that was followed in each situation in the previous years.

Data indicated ambiguity surrounding the promotions, amid suspicions of manipulating the results and mechanism of each comparison and that middle positions in the institution and its subsidiaries may not be free of suspicions in promotions, as some senior officials often transfer from the corporation or from one company to another, because they are close to the administration of its orientations.
