Suggestion For Road Tax Yet To Be Decided

Director- General of Public Authority for Roads and Land Transportation Eng Suha Ashkanani, said the suggestion of imposing road tax has not yet been decided by the Cabinet stressing that no road tax at present, reports Al-Anba daily.

Ashkanani speaking to the daily disclosed that within the next two years, the development of the road network in Kuwait will be fully accomplished, using the latest technologies and international standards. The implementation of the metro and mass transport projects will help to reduce the traffic crisis phenomenon, she added. She stressed that these projects will also bring in financial gains to the state and therefore they will have positive impact. She pointed out that the tender floating mechanism between the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the Authority will be accelerated to help the implementation of the projects on schedule according to the agreements concluded between Authority and the companies and the contractors.

On the other hand, an official source in the Ministry of Public Works said the ministry will ask the CSC to minimize the new organizational structure of the ministry which, in the coming days, will include the reduction in departments and the merging of some sectors in addition to referrals for retirement of a number of senior officials. The source added the ministry will provide the CSC with proposals and perceptions of the new structure to be in line with the mechanism of the ministry’s work during the coming period, especially that there are departments and sectors which be dispensed for the favor of the work at the ministry.
