Study To Add Energy - Saving Lighting To Subsidized Materials Completed
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has completed the study of adding energy-saving lighting to the subsidized materials for the beneficiaries of the construction materials, expecting that the product will be provided in the list of subsidized materials during the next two months according to international standards and standards for the provision of energy, reports Al- Qabas daily quoting sources.
The same sources indicated that the addition of energy-saving lighting to the subsidized construction materials comes within the framework of a government plan to rationalize the consumption of electricity in Kuwait, in coordination with the Ministry of Electricity and Water, which has launched a program under the name ‘energy efficiency’ aimed at reducing power and water consumption by 40%.
Preventing
This program includes moving forward towards preventing the importation, manufacture or trading of non-energy-efficient traditional electrical appliances and lighting. The sources said the price of buying conventional lamps is less than that of energy-saving, but the life of the latter is longer, in addition to the advantage of saving electricity, saying the community needs educational and awareness programs in this matter. Related sources also revealed that the Ministry of Commerce plans to add four new products to a list of food subsidies.
It is noteworthy to mention that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry had added before the end of 2018 the thermal insulation, sanitary sets, electrical wires, ceramics, porcelain, limestone and external cladding, within the supported construction materials, and the beneficiary was asked to choose one of these seven materials, worth KD 1,500.
