A report released recently by the State Audit Bureau unveiled academic and administrative violations at Kuwait University, citing weak internal monitoring systems and procedures for payment of social allowances to students because some students received allowances they do not deserve, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The report disclosed the university administration wrongly paid social allowances to some students, contrary to the decision of the Education and Higher Education Ministry concerning payment regulations.
The amount wrongly paid during academic year 2017/2018 reached KD234,313; indicating the rate of wrong payment became uncontrolled as it increased each year and reached KD1,074,188 during academic year 2017/2018.
Reacting to the allegation, the university affirmed taking all necessary procedures to avoid double payment of social allowances, such as activating the individual financial auditing network. It added the amount mentioned in the report was refunded after discovering the violation.
In another incident Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Basic Education in the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) Dr Abdulaziz Al-Kandari collapsed while giving a lecture and died, reports Al-Rai daily.
