Steps To Cancel Electric Meter On Your Name Or Civil Id

we may need to cancel electricity meters on your name when you rae leaving Kuwait , or if you are changing flat

Step 1 – First Time When you take Electricity Meter on Your Name, they will give a paper for the Deposit of 125 KD, keep that safe, it is needed when we cancel the meter on your name, it is good if you have but it’s not mandatory.

Step 2 – If you have any pending payment, just make the payments using MEW app for hassle free procedure, you can download the apps from below links

Step 3 -   

Take Meter Reading Photo (Print it)
IBAN letter (To transfer deposit of KD 125 to bank account, get this letter on Bank Letterhead & stamped)
Civil ID copy.

Step 4 – Go to any typing center and tell them cancelation of Electricty Meter

They will prepare an application and typing center also log onto your  online MEW account and do online request to MEW for closing electric. This is linked to your mobile, so you get SMS for every step done by MEW to track process.

Step 5 - For cancellation Please Visit Ministry of Electricity and Water office in South Surra Near to PACI office and take a no and wait for your turn.

Present the most recent meter reading, a copy of the refund slip, a copy of your civil id, a copy of your most recent paid bill, and a copy of your rent contract  He'll fill out a form for you and attach all your documents to it. He gives you the receipt. Wait for 10 min he gives NOC for ZERO dues and all documents you gave. This document is sufficient to leave Kuwait. But if you want deposit KD 125, continue to next step.

They will ask you to go to the next counter, they will take all your docs and give you 1 small square receipt and tell you to check after 4 months for the money in your bank account. The process is over here.

After few months you will receive the money in your bank account
