State Of Kuwait Built A Strong Reputation As One Of The World's Most Charitable Countries

The State of Kuwait built a strong reputation as one of the world’s most charitable countries, said Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Fahad Al-Afasi Monday. Delivering a speech to the 24th Awqaf Forum held under the auspices of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Al-Afasi said that the UN recognition of His Highness the Amir as a (Humanitarian Leader), and Kuwait as a (Global Humanitarian Center) was a clear indication of Kuwait’s strong presence in the charitable scene all over the world.

He noted that securing a nonpermanent seat at the UNSC between 2018-2019 would help Kuwait to further support charitable causes all around the world. On the current forum, the minister affirmed that Kuwait is aware of the importance of providing a helping hand to the poor and needy all over the globe, stressing that this would help push for worldwide development.

Al-Afasi took the chance to thank His Highness the Crown Prince for his generous sponsorship of the event, which was reflective of the top authority’s keenness to support charitable efforts. Al-Afasi is representing His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf at the event.

On his part, Secretary General of the Awqaf Public Foundation Mohammad Al-Jalahma said that Kuwait had proven itself as a country keen on supporting the needy all over the globe. Building relationships through charitable activities are an integral part of a human being, affirmed Al-Jalahma who expressed that the current event was held to support all those who are in need of charity and assistance.

Former Bangladesh foreign minister Dr Dipu Moni delivered a speech during the event in which she lauded Kuwait’s strong presence within the global charitable scene. The annual Awqaf Forum is an indication that Kuwait was keen on continuing its charitable role, said Dr Moni. The two-day Aqwaf Forum honored during its opening session Dr Waleed Al-Ali and Fahad Al-Hussein who were killed during a charity mission in Burkina Faso back in August.
