Parliament Will Hold A Special Session On Tuesday, The Speaker Invites
In response to a request from 10 MPs, Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim has called a special session to be held on Tuesday to discuss and vote on the committee's report regarding the proposal to amend National Assembly Election Law No. 35/1962. The proposal calls for the revocation of the amended version of the above law (Law No. 27/2016), which bars anyone convicted of violating the Heavenly Entity (God), the Prophets (Peace be upon Them) or the Amiri entity from running for parliamentary office. While the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee discussed Sunday the proposal to establish a compensation fund for those who have been victimized by real estate fraud, it did not act on the proposal. MP Ahmed Al- Hamad has disclosed that the committee requested information from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry regarding the number of cases, loss amounts, and other details the committee desired.
As soon as the committee has obtained requested documents and information, it will continue discussing the issue at its next meeting. In addition, the committee also examined the government's role in organizing real estate exhibitions, which contributed to a number of real estate fraud cases and caused damages to citizens who began to put their trust in the organizers of the exhibitions and the government's censorship. He said the second part of the meeting discussed the Assembly's directive to investigate an illegal withdrawal of funds made by the organizers at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in violation of Law No. 2/1995. Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Kuwait Banks Union will be invited to its meeting on March 6, 2022, he said. Representatives of the concerned Kuwaiti institutions will be invited, including the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Central Bank of Kuwait, and Kuwait Banks Union.
A MP has given Agricultural Affairs Minister Ali Al- Musa some weeks to take legal action against those involved in corruption at the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR). If he does not, he will face political accountability. Former PIFSS Chairman Fahd Al-Rajaan and his wife owned farms, which Al-Turaiji previously asked Al-Musa who owned them. As a result, Al-Rajaan and his wife's properties were seized, in violation of a circular issued by the Public Prosecution. The PAAAFR chairman al-Musa was given two weeks to rectify this violation.
The Assembly's recommendation to ease health regulations related to Covid-19 was approved by MP Muhannad Al-Sayer, who commended Dr Khaled Al-Saeed for his cooperation with the Assembly. Those recommendations, which reflect citizens' demands, should be adopted by the Council of Ministers. Certain parties want to prolong the crisis indefinitely, as it increases their bank account balances despite the suffering of citizens. MP Khalid Al-Anzi also submitted a proposal to rename Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS) to Saleh Al-Ujairi Foundation for the Advancement of Science. The MP also forwarded questions to the Minister of Health, Khalid Al-Saeed, regarding the number of citizens suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) and epilepsy. This request relates to the criteria for declaring a patient has recovered from these diseases, the recovery percentage, and whether the presence of either of these diseases is considered a disability that prevents the patient from performing his job normally, and whether the ministry conveys reports on such cases to relevant government agencies, such as the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) and the Residency Affairs General Department.
