Some Teachers Threaten To Take Kuwait To International Courts Represented By The Moe
The crisis related to the rights of expatriate teachers has escalated to the extent that some teachers have threatened to resort to international courts to prosecute the State of Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Education.
Reportedly, hundreds of complaints were submitted to the International Human Rights Organization in Geneva, in preparation for filing lawsuits at the International Labor Organization and hiring lawyers to carry out these procedures.
According to informed sources, Ministry of Education will not stand idle in the face of these measures, which affect the country’s reputation in international forums. Firm actions will be taken against any teacher who harms Kuwait’s reputation. If any teacher is proven to have done so, his/her service will be terminated.
The sources affirmed that the country has a fair judiciary, which can be resorted to in order to resolve any grievances or problems, adding that there are thousands of cases against Ministry of Education with the judiciary.
They insisted that Kuwait’s reputation is the “red line” and no one will be allowed to tarnish the image of the “State of Humanity”.
The sources said, “Even though there are no official information so far concerning the complaints or international cases against the ministry, all the allegations are unfounded and have no legal basis because it is not within the jurisdiction of the International Tribunal to look into such cases”.
The sources affirmed that the Kuwaiti judiciary has not issued final rulings in all cases related to this matter, which is estimated to have reached thousands, indicating that the educational leaders have discussed the matter.
Kuwait Society for Quality Education has urged the need to form a fact-finding committee to complete the auditing of certificates of the teaching staff of Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAAET), which were not covered by the previous fact-finding committee, reports Al-Rai daily.
The society, in a statement, stressed the need to open an extensive investigation at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts to verify the source of the academic certificates held by some professors, in addition to the verification of the appointments in the institute, which was raised recently in anticipation of serious irregularities.
