Some People Opting To Leave Expected To Face Difficulties
People who are planning to leave the country following the outbreak of the coronavirus and the country coming to almost a standstill, many of those who do not hold a valid Civil ID, face a problem, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
The sources say although the Civil ID has been renewed, it is still with Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) because the holder was unable to collect it, and to make matters worse the residence permit is no longer stamped on the passport.
In the context, wellinformed sources at the Public Authority for Civil Information ruled out the opening of facility at the present time to distribute the renewed civil IDs since the curfew was imposed on March 22, in compliance with the directives of the Council of Ministers and health authorities to prevent gatherings of all kinds.
The sources added since the suspension of work in government departments, including the PACI, no new ID cards have been printed, as the cards are renewed only electronically. In affirming the existence of a “problem”, Director- General of PACI, Musaed Al-Asousi, announced that the application of ‘my identity’ that enables citizens and residents to issue a digital civil card cannot be used currently for travel, as the authority coordinates with the competent authorities to achieve this.
Al-Asousi explained on the occasion of the launch of the application yesterday, that the start of granting the digital ID will be for the person who has a card in the delivery device or submitted a renewal request through the authority’s website.
