Some Parliamentary Committees Intend To Complete Their Work During The Parliamentary Recess

06 July 2017 Kuwait

Some parliamentary committees, such as the Legislation and Public Funds Protection, intend to complete their work during the parliamentary recess while the other committees’ work will be limited due to difficulty of reaching quorum, says MP Khalil Al-Saleh.

He said the first round of the current legislative term was overshadowed by the oversight aspect due to the series of interpellations, formation of inquiry commissions and parliamentary questions.

He expects more focus on the legislative aspect in the next round provided there is no tension between the Parliament and government.

In another development, member of the Arab Parliament MP Ali Al-Deqbasi stressed the importance of joint Arab action to address issues that threaten Arab security. Al-Deqbasi, who is also a member of the Arab Parliament’s Foreign Affairs, Political and National Security Committee, revealed on the sidelines of the committee meeting in Cairo that they discussed ways to promote and develop joint Arab action to face threats and other negative phenomena like poverty, disease and hunger.

He affirmed the committee deliberated on ways to unify and activate visions which serve Arab interests, hoping the Arab Parliament members will work towards the realization of the dreams of Arabs. He pointed out the current situation in the Arab region is frightening and unstable; hence, the need for everyone to intensify their efforts in overcoming difficulties.

He also highlighted the role of Kuwait and its commitment to coordinate with international parliamentary organizations and federations to confront the Zionist entity which manipulates and disregards international resolutions while pushing for the implementation of settlement and ‘Judaization’ policies.
