Social Media User Gets 7 Years Jail For Libel

A social media user has been sentenced to seven years in prison for libel in a state security lawsuit.

The Criminal Court convicted the man of defaming the Amir of Kuwait and discrediting the judicial branch of the government.

He was also convicted of misusing his mobile phone by posting comments on his twitter account, in which he criticised the rights and powers of the Amir.
