Singer Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison For Challenging Emir's Rights In Kuwait

Kuwaiti media reports that a singer has been sentenced to three years in prison for spreading false news and challenging the country's Emir.

As a result of her actions in challenging the Emir's rights and spreading false news via her Twitter account, the Court of Appeals sentenced her to three years in prison.

There are many instances in Kuwait where famous figures have been penalised for insulting the Emir. 

Over the past two weeks, the Public Prosecution has been referred more than 80 media outlets for violating media laws.
