Shipping Companies Cannot Collect Fines On Behalf Of Customs

21 August 2022 Kuwait

The General Administration of Customs has refuted social media rumors that a shipping agent is collecting a KWD 110 fine "on behalf of the customs." According to the shipping company's circular, any alteration of the customs receipt authority will result in the accumulation of this fine. Officials have stated that the circular was erroneous and will result in financial fines for the shipping company. The GCC states' unified customs law is applied by the General Administration of Customs, and if necessary, the customs department is responsible for collecting the fines.

The General Administration of Customs has issued a warning against disseminating inaccurate information and claims that are tainted with bias against the organization's personnel because doing so could cause irreversible economic harm. Additionally, authorities plan to prosecute offenders.
