Several Stranded Egyptians Seek Early Jabs In Bid To Kuwait Return
Several Egyptians employed in Kuwait are now stranded in their country as they have been unable to return since they traveled for vacation due to the corona crisis, reports Al- Qabas daily quoting an official source from the Health Ministry in Egypt. In an exclusive statement to the daily, the source disclosed that these Egyptians have asked the ministry to schedule their vaccination against corona as soon as possible, so they can return to Kuwait before the expiration of their residency permits.
The source said about 100 Egyptians have communicated with the ministry through social media and submitted a request to the Office of the Minister of Health. The source added these Egyptians requested for accelerating their vaccination, so they can travel to Kuwait which recently announced its decision to allow the entry of non-Kuwaitis starting from Aug 1 provided they got two doses of any of the vaccines approved in Kuwait. At the beginning of the vaccination campaign, Egypt used the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine for the elderly and AstraZeneca for the youths. It also signed a contract for procure 25 million doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which will contribute to accelerating the pace of vaccination, the source concluded.
