Securitymen Urged To Act Within The Law
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) for Public Security Affairs Major General Farraj Al-Zoubi said the ministry supports and is fully prepared to support any securityman who acts within the law and makes use of all tools available at his disposal provided they are used within the law when dealing with outlaws, defending himself and limiting the violence that befalls him, and as long as the securityman adheres to the rules and regulations contained in the ministerial decision regulating the use of tools including service weapon.
Major-General Al-Zoubi in an interview with the Security and Citizen Program on Kuwait TV conducted by Colonel Nasser Abu Salib said, “As for us, if it turns out that the securityman abused his powers and/or violated the law, we will not provide him any support. To the contrary, we will support the citizen or resident who is being subjected to abuse or any violation of the law” and emphasized it is imperative that the securityman abides by the instructions of the Minister of Interior. He pointed out the ministry organizes courses and seminars for its employees on their rights and duties and in the use of security tools.
Commenting on the increase in violence in the country, whether felonies or misdemeanors, the Public Security Sector Undersecretary cited several reasons such as inaccurate concepts and the belief that “I am always right” without room for discussion or acceptance of the other and family violence which results due to lack of dialogue, standing their ground and refusal to give in.
