Security Forces Taken Hold Of Liquor Containers That Were Smuggled From Port By Indian Gang

Security forces, in collaboration with Kuwait’s General Administration of Customs (KGAC), have taken hold of two containers laden with liquor bottles that were smuggled from Shuwaikh port on Dec 14, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on Sunday.

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al- Jarrah Al-Sabah has pressed the MoI’s Undersecretary Sulaiman Al-Fahad to deal urgently with the issue, a statement by the MoI noted. Moreover, all information obtained indicated that the containers were located in Amghara area, the statement pointed out.

Meanwhile, police have identified the five culprits, all of whom are Indian nationals, as the main suspect was nabbed as he attempted to leave the country on Saturday. An accomplice of the suspect was detained in the country, another was apprehended in the UAE, while two other suspects have fled to India, the statement revealed.

Interrogations with the suspects disclosed that they had previously smuggled a third container with alcohol and firecrackers found inside, the statement added. The statement also underscored that security forces are firm on dealing with any security threats.
