Dr Ahmad Al-Shatti, spokesman for the Ministry of Health, said seasonal influenza in the country is normal and within the permissible world rate, reports Al-Qabas daily. In the meantime, in response to what has been published in the social media about isolated cases of people infected with the swine flu, Al-Shatti said that the Health Ministry has taken all precautionary measures in addition to educational and awareness programs against the disease which runs throughout the year. He explained there is nothing called swine flu after the World Health Organization renamed it as ‘seasonal flu’ in 2010.

He pointed out some cases require intensive care and others need to be quarantined and called on the citizens to take doses of vaccines especially during these days. Director-General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad said the EPA is fully prepared to play its role during the camping season which starts today (Wednesday) to ensure the application of environmental law related to camping and the environment, reports Al-Anba daily.

Saying the EPA will not tolerate any violations, the official said the authority in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Municipality has formed teams which will be headed by the Municipality to organize frequent inspection campaigns at camping areas to apply the environmental law in full. He added the plan for the current camping season is better than that of last year in terms of positioning members of the teams in different areas to monitor environmental abuses. He pointed out the EPA has assigned more than 60 officers in the municipality teams.
