Saudi Arabia Announces Health Insurance Compulsory For Umrah Pilgrims

The Minister for Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia announced that medical insurance has been compulsory for the pilgrims coming on Umrah visa to the Kingdom from all over the world.

The Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mohammad Saleh bin Taher Benten and Tawuniya Chairman signed an agreement to provide health insurance for pilgrims coming to Saudi Arabia from various countries.

The Minister told that that the Saudi Government wants to offer better health facilities to Umrah pilgrims from the time the arrive in Saudi Arabia until they left the Kingdom.

The validity of the medical insurance will be 30 days, It cover the cost of healthcare, ambulance service in case of traffic accidents and natural calamities. It also covers the loss of luggage and delay in flights.

The insurance also covers emergency cases, repatriation of the remains of pilgrims who die in Saudi Arabia. It covers the amount up to 100,000 SR on each person.

Umrah pilgrims can avail of the insurance benefit by presenting their passports at any hospital or clinic of the Kingdom. Medical Insurance will be activated once the Umrah visa issued.
