Saudi Arabia: A Swollen Drainage Canal Drowns 3 Kids

According to reports, civil defence teams in Hafr Al Batin, north of the Kingdom, retrieved the bodies of three children who drowned after getting swept away by a swollen drainage canal.

Earlier in the day, Sultan Ragheb Al Rahili, 12, was playing with two brothers: Ghanem Mohammed Al Bathali, 10, and Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Bathali, 7. Each of them had previously been caught in floodwaters that were caused by heavy rain in the northern part of the country.

During a playdate with his friends, Sultan Ragheb Al Rahili drowned after he, along with two siblings, were swept away by water at a nearby water pool."

A water tunnel under construction in Tabuk, northwest Saudi Arabia, claimed the lives of two children two days prior to the drowning of the three children.

Several drownings have been reported in Saudi media due to rain-water pools and ditches.
