Samsung Stops Production And Sales Of Galaxy Note Seven

Following the constant reports of the batteries catching fire and exploding from across the world, world's electronics giant Samsung today announced worldwide suspension of production and selling of its new smartphone variant, Galaxy Note 7.

Samsung, in a statement, also urged its customers to "power off and stop using" the Galaxy Note 7 devices after reports emerged about even the replaced combustible models also catching fire.

Soon after Samsung's announcement, the South Korean company's share price suffered a 1.5â„… drop from the previous day's value of 8.0â„… at 1.54 million won.

It all started around a month ago after Samsung recalled over 2.5 million Note 7s in ten countries following reports that the smartphone's lithium-ion battery exploded while charging.

Several airline companies have already issued warnings to their customers against boarding flights with Note 7s and this further dented the brand image and consumer faith of the world's largest smartphone manufacturer.

All the customers who have been asked to return their Note 7 devices will be allowed to either get a full cash refund or to swap their Note 7s for other Samsung smartphone.
