The Ministry of Interior has turned down the request from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor to shut unlicensed nurseries of children in all the provinces of the country, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting informed sources.

The sources pointed the number of unlicensed nurseries is about 150 which was discovered during the extensive field campaigns carried out by inspectors from the Department of Women and Childhood at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.

The sources revealed the ministry in its official letter to the Interior Ministry said these nurseries are un-licensed on one hand and some of them do not abide by the minimum security and safety requirements stipulated in the law.

“The closure of nurseries does do not fall within its competence, but it is within the authority of the Kuwait Municipality,” MOI said in reply to the request.
