Reports Require Only Government's Input

Parliamentary committees are now filing completed legislative reports, while others suspended meetings as the new Cabinet has yet to be formed. State Priorities Committee Chairman MP Ahmed Al-Fadel disclosed that his committee has several reports which require only the government’s input to pave way for voting.

He also confirmed completion of reports on nine other bills which will be discussed during the earliest possible session of the National Assembly. He pointed out that at this rate, the Assembly will most likely approve two to three bills every session and around 25 bills by the end of its term.

The most important bills expected to be ratified before the term ends include the judicial disputes, litigation, sports club support and passive supervision bills. He also stressed the need for the incoming ministers to expedite legislative efforts upon appointment in order to begin constructive deliberations without delay.

Meanwhile, Rapporteur of the Financial Affairs Committee MP Saleh Ashour said they are waiting for the appointment of the finance minister to begin addressing vital bills aimed at improving public welfare. He added the committee will try to complete several reports which do not require government input within a week, such as the proposal to exclude cultural and historical markets from the Commercial Partnership Law to maintain rent values, as well as the proposed amendments to the Retirement Law and Appointment of High Officials Law.
