Reopen External Customer Service Offices For Visitors To Pay Their Bills
Ministry of Electricity and Water has asked the Customer Service Sector officials to reopen external customer service offices for visitors to enable them pay their bills and to increase the value of the ministry’s low collections this year, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily quoting official sources said, “Many of the visitors who are not good at dealing with electronic payment applications try to pay their bills only to find themselves outside the ministry building”.
They noted that allowing the entry of visitors to the building requires booking an appointment in advance, and many visitors are unable to do it, because they are unfamiliar with the technologies and electronic applications. Sources stated the ministry is trying in this period to raise its collections to compensate for the past seven months when payment was almost halted as a result of the corona crisis, pointing out that the value of collections made this year did not reach the expected level, especially after raising the consumption tariff.
It was expected that the proceeds from electricity and water for this year would reach at least 450 million dinars. They indicated the ministry’s readiness to open external offices to receive visitors to relieve pressure and congestion on the ministry’s building, indicating the ministry is awaiting a decision from concerned authorities to launch the offices in various regions of Kuwait. On the other hand, the Ministry of Electricity and Water recently started maintenance work on a number of secondary transformer stations in Jahra Governorate and it is expected that the maintenance work will continue until next Thursday, and as a result, electrical current will be disconnected during the period between four in the morning until eight in the morning.
The ministry stated that the activities will cover maintenance work in five stations at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, three stations in the Capital Governorate and three stations in Hawalli Governorate, noting the stations are located in Bayan, Salwa, Rumaithiya, Qadsiyah, Kaifan, Bneid Al-Qar, and Sharq. The sources added that maintenance work will be carried out at several secondary transformer stations in Farwaniya Governorate, specifically in Firdous, Sulaibiya, Sabah Al-Nasser and Farwaniyah areas.
