Under the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, the area quarantine in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Mahboula will be lifted once the total curfew ends on Saturday, 30 May. New instructions issued to authorities supervising the security officers monitoring the two areas include intensification the round the clock security presence in these regions, and taking strict action against anyone who violates the laws, particularly the preventive health regulations.
Instructions were also given to authorities to deal with popular markets and gatherings of expats, a regular sight in Jleeb AlShuyoukh and Mahboula where the security checkpoints were established.
Hundreds of thousands living in Mahboula and Jleeb were confined to their houses in the first full lock down of these two areas back in April. The government initiated this area wise curfew earlier as a result of the community spread of the coronavirus which alarmed the authorities of the impending danger these areas pose. These areas also contained a number of buildings which are under quarantine and posed a health risk to residents of other areas if movement into and out of these areas was not restricted.
