Recruitment Of New Filipino Maids To Resume As Soon As Current Problems Are Solved
Kuwait Union of Domestic Labor Offices (KUDLO) Chairman Khaled Al-Dakhnan and members of the union recently met with Ambassador of the Philippines to Kuwait Mohamed Noordin Lomondot and the labor attaché in the office of Al-Dahknan to discuss the latest developments in resuming the recruitment of domestic workers, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Al-Dakhnan told the daily that “the Filipino ambassador and the labor attaché promised to resume the recruitment of new domestic workers as soon as the problems of female workers currently staying at the embassy are solved and the procedures for their departure are completed.” He explained these workers refused to continue with their employers and they want to return to their country, calling on the Ministry of Interior to speed up the procedures for their departure to pave way for the recruitment of new workers before or during Ramadan at the latest.
Regarding the renewal of recruitment contracts between the local offices and their counterparts in the Philippines, Al-Dakhnan expects a solution to this simple problem by the end of this month and once the embassy opens its new headquarters.
He appealed to the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) and Ministry of Interior to quickly address all pending problems in order to resume the recruitment process soon.
Meanwhile, Director General of the union Abdulaziz Al-Ali revealed they discussed all the problems that the Filipino domestic workers and local recruitment offices are currently facing.
Al-Ali added they also tackled the delayed renewal of recruitment contracts between the local offices and their counterparts in the Philippines, according to which the labor recruitment process is carried out. He said the ambassador and the labor attaché stressed the need to solve the problems of domestic workers staying at the embassy and expedite their return to Manila.
