Recruitment Of Ethiopian Domestic Workers Soon
The head of the Voluntary Committee to Study the Conditions of Domestic Workers in the country, Bassam Al-Shammari, revealed that opening a new market for the recruitment of domestic workers is just around the corner, especially with the near completion of the memorandum of understanding regulating the controls brought in from Ethiopia.
Al-Shammari explained that many local offices have begun to conclude initial recruitment contracts known as (job order) with their counterparts in Addis Ababa, expecting that the memorandum of understanding between the Kuwaiti and Ethiopian sides will be completed very soon, through the presence of an Ethiopian delegation to the country. Or authorizing their ambassador to Kuwait to sign, pointing out that the Ethiopian side adopts the same mechanism for bringing in Filipino workers.
Al-Shammari stressed the importance of allowing the recruitment of domestic workers from several markets, and not limiting the matter to only two or three countries, especially since allowing the recruitment of Ethiopian workers creates a balance in the market, and solves the problems of the shortage of domestic workers that it currently suffers from, especially since the costs and salaries of recruiting these workers. Low, in a way that does not burden the citizen and resident, again appealing to him to comprehensively address any previous shortcomings in the right of labor, and to apply the law “to the letter” against every violator of the rights of this labor, to ensure the continuation of the recruitment process without any obstacles.
He stressed the need for good and careful treatment with Ethiopian workers by containing them and avoiding insulting or underestimating them, as there are no problems between them and employers of neglect, calling on the Public Authority for Manpower to hold binding training courses for its employees and office owners, and optional via the “online” for employers to familiarize them with how to deal with The issues of this employment, especially those related to labor disputes, to ensure that the rights of all parties are preserved, and to support the repetition of previous problems that led some countries to decide to stop sending their workers to Kuwait.
