Recipients Of Booster Dose Doubles; Cost Of Pcr Test Reduced To 9 Dinars
In the face of rising Corona infection cases, the Ministry of Health continues to redouble efforts to enhance community immunity, by immunizing a big number of the third (reinforcement) dose of the anti-virus vaccine.
In this context, informed sources revealed to “Al-Rai” that “there has big a big jump in the number of recipients of this dose, and the percentage has doubled from 7 to about 13.5 percent within about 10 days.”
The sources explained “the number of recipients of the third dose was 237,000 on December 19, and it jumped to 437,000 on December 30,” noting that the proportion of those who received this dose compared to the number of recipients of the second dose was 7% (237,000 out of about 3.2 million). Yesterday, it reached 13.5 percent (437 thousand out of about 3.22 million).
The sources expected “the half-million barrier to be broken within the next few hours”, and reassured that the health situation is stable despite the high number of infections.
Sources explained that it is normal for the percentage of infections to hike in relation to the number of swabs, reaching 1.9 percent (399 out of 20,982 swabs within 24 hours).
In a related context, the Ministry of Health decided to adopt a new price for the PCR examination, starting next Sunday, to be a maximum of 9 dinars, based on the decision of the Medical Licensing Committee.
