Ready For ‘barcode’ If Needed – Qr Code To Detect Forgery
The Cooperatives Sector in the Ministry of Social Affairs, in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce, is fully prepared for the resumption of online booking (barcode) for shoppers whenever the need arises, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources.
Source clarified that in light of the remarkable increase in the number of new corona cases – more than 1,000 daily; and the possibility of imposing partial or total curfew to further control gatherings, maintain social distancing and curb the spread of the virus, the relevant authorities are ready for any emergency in this regard.
Sources said the resumption of the online appointment system for shoppers depends on the decision of health authorities in the event that the number of corona cases continues to increase.
Kuwait Municipality has taken new steps to detect tampering or forgery of commercial, advertisement and health licenses by using the QR Code, reports Al-Jarida daily. In a statement to the daily, Head of the Violations Removal Department in the Farwaniya branch of the Municipality Fahad Al-Muwaisari explained the inspectors use automated barcodes in their work to prevent manipulation and fraud in licenses for commercial activities.
He affirmed there is no room for forgery or tampering with license data – name, date, legal researcher or even the value and shape of the advertisement in terms of the advertisements licenses – once the licenses are approved electronically and start of work in the Municipality. He added there is a special screen for the Municipality inspectors showing all the data; and through it, the inspectors can verify the validity of the information therein.
He confirmed the QR code facilitates the inspection mechanism for stores and other commercial establishments accurately and faster. He pointed out that before the implementation of the electronic system, it was difficult to determine if there were changes to the license; stressing the penalties are harsh for those who forge licenses as per the relevant laws.
