07 September 2020 Coronavirus

The competent authorities in the Ministry of Health have monitored a number of infections with the Coronavirus among the ranks of arrivals from abroad during the last period since the restart of commercial flights, despite the obligation of all arrivals to bring a PCR certificate proving that the traveler is free of infection.

Informed sources revealed that infections were detected among arrivals from several countries through random examination of the 10 percent of those arriving on board each flight, referring to suspicions regarding some PCR certificates issued by laboratories abroad.

In a related development, the sources warned against the consequences of gatherings, with the likelihood of an increase in cases of Coronavirus infection during the coming period, due to non-compliance with health guidelines and societal distancing.

Despite their assertion that the current conditions are reassuring”, the sources expressed deep concern about the gatherings, and the lack of commitment to precautionary measures observed in them, calling for “the necessity of social responsibility and avoiding gatherings, especially in diwaniyas.

The sources pointed out that “the recent increase in infection cases is due to a lack of commitment to social distancing and visits to offices and gatherings of all kinds, which constitute a direct reason for transmitting infections from abroad to within families.

In parallel with the local warning, the World Health Organization has issued guidelines for those wishing to attend a gathering or event such as birthdays, a wedding, soccer games for children or family events.
The guidelines include a number of points, most notably: wearing a face mask, keeping a distance of at least one meter from others, covering the nose and mouth with a tissue, bending the elbow when sneezing or coughing, and disposing of the tissue immediately in a closed waste bin, while avoiding touching the eyes and nose. And mouthwash, clean or wash hands regularly.
