‘change Working Hours Of School Administrations During Ramadan’

During a meeting held with the directors of the educational zones, a recommendation was made to the Minister of Education Dr Ali Al-Mudhaf to determine the working hours of school administrations during the month of Ramadan, and that it should start from 9:30 am for all educational stages except the elementary stage, which will start at 12 noon, reports Al-Qabas daily.

According to informed educational sources, the meeting was presided over by the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education Affairs Osama Al-Sultan. During the meeting, it was agreed that all school employees would work online from home, except for the principal and assistant principal, who will be present in the school on rotation basis. The directors of the educational zones submitted a report on the preparations for the high school exams, which will start on May 30. The names of the work committees for the examinations were also submitted to the assistant undersecretary based on the systems and regulations in force in this aspect.

Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Education Youssef Al-Najjar has instructed the Public Education Sector to submit a list of the public schools’ needs as part of preparations for the resumption of classes in the next school year, reports Al-Anba daily.

Re-opening
The daily obtained a copy of Al-Najjar’s letter to his public education counterpart, in which he stressed the need for the Financial Affairs Sector to receive the aforementioned list in preparation for the next academic year and in view of the gradual re-opening of schools. “We have to know the needs of students in public schools in terms of equipment and supplies required for the implementation of health regulations.

This is an important and urgent matter,” he added. Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education Affairs Osama Al-Sultan forwarded the letter to the educational districts; urging them to respond immediately. In the meantime, the State Audit Bureau (SAB) presented its opinions on 2,941 issues in fiscal year 2020/2021 and the amount involved is estimated at KD3.1 billion, reports Al-Jarida daily. Auditor at the Pre-Supervision Department for Economic Affairs Fatima Al-Fahd disclosed in a statement to the bureau that prior control works resulted in direct savings estimated at KD80 million for the State treasury. She added that about 13 percent of the total value of the issues raised during the above-mentioned fiscal year are related to contracts on combating the repercussions of coronavirus and are estimated at KD 409 million — about 255 issues.
