Quarantine Facilities Cost The State Kd7.7 Million
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) had to incur an expense of KD6.1 million which was paid to several tourist and hotel destinations for serving as quarantine centers to segregate those suspected of being infected with the coronavirus, a government report revealed, AlQabas daily reported.
This amount for renting quarantine facilities was approved by the MoF until August. As for the costs of quarantine areas by the Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC), which was approved, reached KD1.6 million dinars, which were agreed upon within the framework of government preparations to confront the repercussions of the spread of the coronavirus.
The report indicated that Kuwait, in light of the current circumstances, spares no effort to encourage all state agencies to treat the patients infected with the coronavirus, and stem the spread of the coronavirus. The Council of Ministers, in this regard, issued several decisions, among them is mandating the MoF to rent quarantine facilities (hotels, buildings, and apartments) necessary for housing suspected cases of the coronavirus infected, medical and security personnel and others, as well as bearing all the financial costs.
This was until it was time that the Ministry of Health does not require to rent these facilities. The report added that based on this decision, several bodies of MoF submitted documents underlining needs related to equipment, materials, equipment and others to contain the spread of the virus.
