‘qamar Al-kuwait’ Satellite Launch Into Space June 24
The General Manager of the Orbital Space Company, Dr Bassam Al-Faili announced the first Kuwaiti satellite; ‘Qamar Al-Kuwait’ will be launched into space on June 24 from the rocket launching pad in Florida in the United States of America, reports Al-Qabas daily. Al-Faili told the daily this is purely a Kuwaiti production, saying, ‘I installed it myself and it cost me 50,000 dinars of my money.” He said he did not get any support from any party. Al-Faili said he opted for government support, not to design and assemble the satellite, but to obtain the necessary approvals to request the allocation of frequencies for broadcasting from the satellite and to register the satellite in the name of Kuwait with the International Telecommunication Satellites Organization.
Al-Faili pointed out the Emirates Space Agency and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center received him and provided him with all the facilities and even the necessary location for the educational ground station, stressing that through the Emirates station, the satellite will be available to all. He indicated that the Turkish Institute for Space Technology also officially invited him to the meeting to discuss ways of cooperation. Al-Faili indicated the Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Center has taken the initiative, through the Space Museum, to cover the launch in the media.
